Origin and background<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Lime essential oil is extracted from the sour fruit of Citrus aurantifolia<\/em>, also known as Mexican or West Indian lime. The oil is extracted from the peel of the fruit or from the whole ripe fruit by cold extraction. Lime oil has a pungent citrus aroma, which immediately lifts the mood when sniffed. The color of this oil is pale yellow to light olive green.<\/p>\n

Lime trees originate in Asia, but are now grown in most countries with warm climates, such as Italy, the West Indies and the United States. It was brought to Europe by the Maori people and from there it migrated to America. Lime is said to have a lower vitamin C content than lemons.<\/p>\n

It is known in folklore for its ability to purify, refresh and renew the mind and spirit. It is also considered an effective aura cleanser.<\/p>\n

When used in an aroma diffuser or oil burner, lime essential oil stimulates the tired mind and helps relieve anxiety, apathy, and depression. Inhalation helps reduce fever associated with cold, sore throat, and flu. Increases immunity while relieving cough, bronchitis, sinusitis, and asthma.<\/p>\n

Healing properties<\/h5>\n

Lime essential oil is useful for arthritis, rheumatism, and poor blood circulation. Helps reduce obesity and cellulite.<\/p>\n

This oil is good for the skin - for oily skin, it helps reduce the oiliness of the skin and treats acne, it also helps with herpes, insect bites and scratches and abrasions. In skin care, it helps ensure a bright, clear complexion and helps prevent the signs of aging. Like other cold extracted oils, lime essential oil can cause photosensitivity and irritate the skin. Therefore, when applying it to the skin, direct sunlight should be avoided for at least 12 hours after use.<\/p>\n
