Origin and background<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Eucalyptus essential oil which is made from the eucalyptus tree Eucalyptus globulus<\/em>, is the most widely used eucalyptus oil.<\/p>\n

Eucalyptus globulus<\/em> is a tree that usually grows to a height of 45 m. However, depending on the growing conditions, sometimes only the stunted shrub can be grown or, in ideal conditions, grow to a height of 90-100 m. This type of eucalyptus tree is also called the blue gum tree and is one of the most extensively planted eucalyptus trees as it grows rapidly and adapts well to a variety of conditions. It is particularly well suited to countries with a Mediterranean-type climate, but also grows well at high altitudes in tropical climates.<\/p>\n

The minty, sharp, clean and herbal aroma of eucalyptus oil acts as an excellent insect repellent. In addition, its crisp aroma helps relieve all kinds of respiratory ailments (see below).<\/p>\n

When used by inhalation in an oil burner or aroma diffuser, it promotes activity, vitality, and energy.<\/p>\n

Healing properties<\/h5>\n

Eucalyptus essential oil has antibacterial, disinfectant, and analgesic effects. It is mainly known for its excellent properties in relieving various respiratory problems, including nasal congestion, colds, flu, fever, and bronchitis.<\/p>\n

The good properties of this oil also come to the fore, for example, in massage or just applying it on the skin to relieve muscle and joint pain and arthritis. Also helps heal wounds, burns, ulcers, and insect bites.<\/p>\n

Eucalyptus oil has a good disinfectant and cleansing effect. Australian aborigines used eucalyptus leaves to treat wounds and prevent infection. Today, essential oil diluted in a carrier oil can be used to treat skin inflammations and promote healing. A good way is to add a few drops of essential oil to your cream or ointment. The latter can be used for minor burns or other injuries that can be treated with home remedies and do not require a doctor's appointment.<\/p>\n

Eucalyptus essential oil helps control blood sugar. Eucalyptus oil is attributed to lowering blood sugar levels, making it a very beneficial oil for diabetics. Although no fundamental research has been done on this at the moment, it means that scientists have not yet understood how this essential oil works in this area. Until this is further investigated, researchers recommend that people taking antidiabetic drugs monitor their blood sugar levels closely when using eucalyptus oil.<\/p>\n

The anti-inflammatory properties of eucalyptus may relieve the symptoms of herpes. Applying eucalyptus oil to the blister can reduce pain and speed up the healing process.<\/p>\n

Eucalyptus essential oil is also a great breath freshener. Due to its antibacterial properties, it can effectively kill microbes that cause bad breath. Some mouthwashes and toothpastes also contain eucalyptus essential oil as one of the active ingredients. It is thought that eucalyptus products can help prevent plaque from accumulating on teeth and gums by attacking the bacteria that cause decay.<\/p>\n

Eucalyptus oil (like other essential oils) must not be swallowed.<\/p>\n
