Origin and background

Lemon verbena(Aloysia triphylla) leaves have a particularly strong lemon scent which persists even after drying. This aromatic herb gives a great taste to herbal teas, it makes an excellent refreshing iced tea and gives exciting aromas and flavors for both salty dishes and desserts.

Lemon verbena, rich in essential oils, also has healing properties, having a soothing and relaxing effect.

The Aloisia family includes about 35 species, one of the most beautiful of which is lemon verbena. Aloisias belong to the familyVerbenaceae. Lemon verbena is native to South America, ranging from Uruguay and Argentina to Chile. In warm climates, it grows into a shrub several meters high, in northern climates it is only about a meter high.
